Green n Local

Welcome to Green n Local.

Green n Local started as an exciting new idea for everyone who'd like to know about locally produced food or about the organisations involved in growing it, buying it, selling it and eating it. We wanted to make it easier for consumers to find out about the local food producers and suppliers in their area and for the local food producers and suppliers to reach new customers. The answer: the Green n Local virtual market.

The Green n Local virtual market is still under construction but through Getting There we'll keep you updated on how it's progressing.

One of the major changes we've already made as a result of feedback from consumers, wholesalers, retailers and organisations representing business is to extend the scope of Green n Local. As we've talked to local food producers and suppliers about creating a virtual market it's become clear that many of the other businesses they work with such as the local printer, the local training and recruitment companies, the local builders and pavers etc. would also benefit from being part of a virtual market.
Then we found out about the great work the Federation of Small Businesses is doing with its Keep Trade Local Campaign http://www.fsb.org.uk/default.aspx?id=0&loc=keeptradelocal
and we thought here was a chance to help consumers and help small and new businesses too.

So there you have it Green n Local a virtual market not just for food but for all the small businesses that make our communities tick.
